The book The Climate Planner serves as a guide for urban planners, local activists, and community members who want to implement effective climate action plans but are faced with common objections. Authored by Jason King, a seasoned urban planner, the book provides strategies for overcoming resistance and bridging the gap between planning and implementation.

Our conversation focuses on public engagement. King argues that by involving the public, stakeholders, and decision-makers throughout the planning process, you can build trust, create consensus, and ultimately draft climate plans that are more likely to be adopted and put into action. The book also addresses ten common objections to climate planning, such as "Climate change is a lie" or "We don't have the money," and provides practical ways to counter them.

Using real-world case studies from around the United States, King demonstrates how communities have successfully navigated political and social pushback to create and implement meaningful climate plans, emphasizing the importance of a commitment to substantive public engagement to turn plans into reality.
